International couture designer Danny Nguyen, whose work has dazzled runways in New York, Los Angeles, and Paris, is turning his spotlight to Houston. Together with his wife and creative partner Kristina Phan, Nguyen is spearheading The Grid Show, a vibrant initiative aimed at positioning Houston as a global fashion destination—while celebrating his Vietnamese roots and amplifying AAPI representation in the industry.
Nguyen’s journey reflects the essence of the American Dream. At just six years old, he immigrated from Vietnam to the U.S. with his twin brother, David, and their parents. The family settled in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where Nguyen’s mother opened a small tailoring shop. As the only English speaker, young Danny helped manage the store—an experience that sparked his passion for design and entrepreneurship.
Now firmly established in Houston, Nguyen draws heavily on the lessons of persistence and consistency learned from his mother. “She taught me to be persistent and consistent,” he says, acknowledging these traits as pillars of his personal and professional growth.
Through The Grid Show, Nguyen and Phan are curating monthly fashion-focused events that will culminate in Houston Fashion Week this November. Their mission is clear: to prove that creatives and designers can build thriving careers right in Houston, without needing to relocate to traditional fashion capitals.
The Grid Show Calendar of Events:
June – Fashion Night Out: A mini fashion showcase
July – Danny Nguyen F/W 2025 Fashion Show
August – The Grid Show Symphony Concert
September – The Grid Show Art Show
October – Monster Bash Fundraiser
November – FASHION WEEK HOUSTON
With this ambitious lineup, Danny Nguyen is not only celebrating Houston’s emerging talent but also laying the foundation for the city’s rise in the global fashion arena.
