Flight Attendant Issues Fashion Warning: Avoid Rompers and Sandals on Planes Due to Hygiene Risks

by Demos

A seasoned flight attendant has issued a cautionary style advisory for air travelers: certain clothing choices may lead to uncomfortable and unsanitary situations aboard a plane.

Cher, a veteran flight attendant from Dallas with six years of experience, recently went viral with a video warning passengers against wearing rompers — the one-piece shirt-and-shorts outfit — while flying. She explained that the design poses a particular challenge in the cramped, often unsanitary airplane lavatories.

“This is a double no-no,” Cher said in the video. “I would never, never, never wear a romper.” She pointed out that when using the restroom at 30,000 feet, rompers must be fully removed, increasing the risk of the fabric touching the lavatory floor, which she described as being soaked in urine.

According to Cher, these in-flight restrooms are rarely cleaned during flights and harbor more waste than most passengers realize. The concern doesn’t end there — flight attendants have frequently identified airplane lavatories as some of the dirtiest spots on the aircraft, often containing traces of excrement, vomit, and blood.

Airplane carpets fare no better in terms of cleanliness. Another experienced stewardess shared her observations, noting passengers often leave behind spills and even used diapers. As a result, crew members strongly advise against walking barefoot on the aircraft.

Cher echoed these concerns, extending her wardrobe warnings to open-toe shoes such as sandals. “I would never travel in sandals, ever,” she stated. She explained that airplane carpets, which are rarely deep-cleaned, are breeding grounds for bacteria due to exposure to vomit, pets, and bare feet.

“I would not want my toes anywhere near an open exposure to that,” she emphasized.

Additionally, Cher warned against wearing tank tops and tube tops, highlighting the unpredictable temperatures inside aircraft cabins. She recalled a situation where a passenger had to remove her sweater due to overheating and was left wearing only a bra, underscoring the importance of dressing in layers.

“Layers are so important when flying,” she advised. “It can either be so freezing or burning hot.” She further explained that the heat inside an aircraft can feel especially intense due to the enclosed environment.

Cher’s practical insights offer a blend of hygiene awareness and comfort-focused fashion advice, urging travelers to be both stylish and sensible when choosing their in-flight attire.
