by Demos

Copenhagen Fashion Week (CPHFW) has announced an exciting collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) for the May 2025 edition of its Fashion in Motion series. The showcase will spotlight five emerging Danish designers, celebrating the creativity, innovation, and expressiveness that CPHFW has become known for.

On May 30, 2025, the Raphael Court at the V&A will host three showings, featuring collections from five talented designers. Four of these designers are part of the CPHFW NEWTALENT program, which highlights up-and-coming talent from Denmark. These include Alectra Rothschild/Masculina, Berner Kühl, Bonnetje, and Stamm. The fifth designer is Stem, the recipient of the 2024 Wessel & Vett Fashion Prize. Each designer will present six key looks that showcase their unique vision and commitment to creative craft and expression.

The V&A’s Fashion in Motion series has been a significant platform for both British and international designers since 1999, offering high-profile exposure to emerging talent from around the world. CPHFW’s CEO, Cecilie Thorsmark, expressed the importance of this collaboration, noting that the V&A is a cornerstone of the British creative and cultural industries. She sees this partnership as an excellent opportunity to highlight the talent emerging from Denmark and strengthen connections between the creative industries of both nations. “I hope we can paint a strong visual of the vast talent our small nation is cultivating, and build stronger bridges between our burgeoning creative industries,” Thorsmark said.

Oriole Cullen, senior curator of Fashion and Textiles at the V&A, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the museum’s commitment to working with exceptional practitioners globally. “Fashion in Motion gives us the opportunity to work with incredible practitioners from around the world,” Cullen said.

In addition to the V&A collaboration, CPHFW has also announced the members of its Show & Presentation Committee for the SS26 season, further underscoring the event’s international reach. Alongside prominent local figures like Allyson Shiffman, features editor of Vogue Scandinavia, and Christian Hansen, creative director of Costume Denmark, the committee includes several key international names. These include Bruce Pask, senior editorial director at Neiman Marcus; Emily Chan, senior sustainability editor at British Vogue; Ida Petersson, founder of Good Eggs; Maud Pupato, buying director at Printemps; Sara Sozzani Maino, creative director at Fondazione Sozzani; and Tiffany Hsu, chief buying officer at Mytheresa.

This collaboration between CPHFW and the V&A marks another milestone for the growing global influence of Danish fashion, positioning Copenhagen as a key player in the international fashion scene.
