Florence, June 17 — Japanese avant-garde label Children of the Discordance made a striking return to Pitti Uomo 108 on Monday, presenting a bold SS26 collection that fused deconstructed tailoring with rebellious urban aesthetics. Designer Hideaki Shikama delivered a defiant manifesto of reworked garments, patchwork experimentation, and subculture-inspired chaos, reinforcing the brand’s reputation for disruptive craftsmanship.
A Remix of Rebellion
Shikama, who once compared his design philosophy to DJ culture, embraced a “no repeats” ethos in this collection. “Just as DJs avoid playing the same tracks, fashion should constantly evolve,” he stated. The analogy held true—garments were sliced, spliced, and reassembled with a raw energy reminiscent of underground music scenes.
Tailored skirts, jackets, and trousers received meticulous London-trained patterning, only to be subverted with over-dyed finishes, asymmetrical cuts, and distressed detailing. Patchwork suiting blended black, navy, khaki, and gray in jagged yet deliberate compositions, while quilted fabric scraps formed striped textiles for blousons and outerwear.

True to its name, the collection thrived on discord. Traditional Japanese souvenir jackets were bisected and stitched to graphic football jerseys; tracksuits collided with paisley prints and graffiti motifs. Faded crests, jewel-toned embellishments, and intentional fraying added layers of visual tension.
The show’s finale—a deconstructed bridal look—epitomized Shikama’s irreverence: a hood-veil hybrid crafted from crumpled black-and-white tees, crowned with a bejeweled cross.

Alongside Post Archive Faction (PAF) and Homme Plissé Issey Miyake, Children of the Discordance highlighted the growing influence of Asian avant-garde designers at Pitti Uomo. Shikama’s latest work not only honored street culture’s anarchic spirit but also pushed the boundaries of luxury deconstruction.
