Bollywood actor Rhea Chakraborty has opened the first retail outlet of her streetwear clothing brand Chapter 2 Drip in Mumbai’s Bandra neighborhood. The brand, co-founded with her brother Showik Chakraborty, was initially launched online in 2024 and has now expanded offline with the new store.
As of May 2025, Chapter 2 Drip is valued between ₹38 crore and ₹40 crore, bolstered by seed funding from retail magnates Kishore and Ashni Biyani. The brand is known for its oversized t-shirts, raw-edged hoodies, baggy jeans, and unisex apparel featuring bold and affirming messages.
The inspiration behind Chapter 2 Drip stems from a difficult chapter in the siblings’ lives. Following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020, Rhea and Showik found themselves at the center of a media storm. Both were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on drug-related charges connected to the case.
Reflecting on that period in an interview with CNBC-TV18, Rhea recalled how her clothing carried a powerful message when she couldn’t speak out. “When I was arrested, my t-shirt read: ‘Roses are red, violets are blue, let’s smash the patriarchy, me and you.’ It spoke for me when I couldn’t,” she said.
Rhea also spoke about how the ordeal affected their personal and professional lives. “We both lost our careers. I wasn’t getting acting offers anymore. Showik, who had scored 96 percentile in CAT and had secured admission to a top business school, was arrested before he could begin. By the time he was released, he had missed the first trimester — and along with it, his MBA opportunity. No one wanted to hire someone surrounded by so much controversy,” she shared.
This difficult journey eventually gave birth to Chapter 2 Drip, envisioned as a platform to empower people and help them express themselves. The brand’s website invites customers to “write their sequel,” emphasizing clothing that gives wearers a voice.
To mark the store’s opening, the Chakraborty siblings also held a traditional puja at the venue. With their new physical presence, Chapter 2 Drip aims to reach a wider audience and inspire individuals to own their stories through fashion.
