Bogotá Fashion Week (BFW) concluded on May 22, turning Colombia’s capital into a bustling center of creativity, commerce, and cultural expression for four consecutive days. In its eighth edition, the event did more than just showcase the latest trends and collections — it solidified its role as a powerful platform for connecting local talent with global markets and advancing the international reach of Colombian fashion.
Organized by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, the event celebrated commercial success with substantial engagement between national designers and international buyers. A key highlight was the wholesale business matchmaking sessions, which included more than 1,000 appointments. These strategic meetings brought together Colombian participants and buyers from major markets such as the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and Mexico. As a result, the event sparked commercial expectations exceeding US$4 million, with projections suggesting this number could reach US$10 million within a year.
The participation of 80 buyers from 22 countries reinforced the impact of the internationalization efforts led in partnership with ProColombia. Their involvement marked a milestone in positioning Colombia as a competitive player in the global fashion industry and affirmed Bogotá’s growing reputation as a fashion capital in Latin America.
Ovidio Claros Polanco, president of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, emphasized BFW’s broader vision — to be a space not only for creative talent but also for sustainability and inclusiveness in the fashion sector. He reiterated the commitment to ensuring that both renowned brands and entrepreneurs from Colombia’s popular economy have equal opportunities to thrive. This focus on diversity aligns with the event’s mission to foster a more accessible and representative fashion industry.
Beyond the runways, the Ágora convention center served as a vibrant marketplace where brands showcased and sold their designs. One standout success was a multi-brand store that achieved sales of 200 million pesos. With over 31,000 attendees — including designers, fashion industry professionals, and enthusiasts — the event offered a holistic experience. The BFW 2025 agenda also featured academic programming aimed at nurturing emerging talent and delivering valuable training in this highly competitive field.
Bogotá Fashion Week has once again proven itself not only as a hub for style and trends but as a driving force behind economic growth and global recognition for Colombia’s fashion industry.
