At the preview day of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, broadcaster Sophie Raworth made a striking appearance in a summer-perfect outfit that turned heads and offered a masterclass in effortless warm-weather dressing.
Dressed in a vibrant paisley-printed maxi dress made from breathable cotton cheesecloth, Raworth showcased a relaxed yet chic ensemble ideal for the ongoing heatwave. The dress, featuring puffed shoulders, a V-neckline, a defined waist, and a flattering A-line skirt, was complemented by a pair of white trainers that added a casual edge while tying in with the print’s details.
The dress was sourced from ME+EM, a fashion label known for its royal fan base, including the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Edinburgh. Raworth has previously been seen in the brand, notably in a papaya orange lace dress during her VE Day coverage.
Her choice of a maxi-length dress proved functional as well as fashionable. The length ended just above the ankle, preventing it from sweeping the floor and revealing her stylish trainers. With many exhibits to explore at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the decision to wear supportive and trendy footwear added practicality to her ensemble.
The dress featured just-above-the-elbow sleeves, offering coverage suitable for both cooler breezes and sun protection. Puff sleeve heads and subtle gathering created a polished silhouette, while the standout print was balanced with refined tailoring details.
Functional design elements added to the appeal. Seam pockets offered storage without compromising the shape, and a shirred back enhanced the skirt’s volume while cinching at the waist. An elegant knot at the neckline subtly elongated the torso.
Raworth kept her accessories understated, wearing only a simple leather-strapped watch and a gold chain bracelet. This minimalistic styling allowed the dress to remain the focal point of the outfit.
While perfectly suited for a daytime garden show, the vibrant dress could easily transition into occasion wear. Swapping the trainers for wedges or espadrilles and adding a fascinator would make the outfit race-day ready. A coordinating clutch and delicate gold jewellery would complete the transformation for an event like Ascot.
ME+EM’s continued popularity among celebrities and royals alike is no surprise. Known for seamlessly blending sophistication and practicality, the brand’s offerings—from tailored pieces to romantic dresses—strike the perfect balance between everyday wear and occasion-ready style.
