In a unique collaboration, the Cologne-based sustainable brand Armedangels has teamed up with the Wikimedia Foundation to create a collection of slogan T-shirts that champion the values of knowledge and freedom. The collection, which features key words such as equality, freedom, and peace, carries the powerful tagline “Let’s set knowledge free.”
The limited-edition Armedangels x Wikipedia collection is set to launch Thursday, available for purchase at armedangels.com, Kastner & Öhler department store in Graz, Austria, and Ludwig Beck in Munich. The partnership comes at a time when the Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit organization behind Wikipedia, has found itself at the center of debates sparked by high-profile figures like U.S. President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
While the release makes no direct mention of Trump or Musk, it emphasizes the importance of open access to information and free expression, which are currently under threat. “Every piece in this collection carries a message of knowledge, access, and impact: from the freedom to learn to the responsibility to share information,” said Christiane Bördner, creative director of Armedangels. “With clear, wearable statements, Armedangels shows that fashion can convey values and be a force for change.”
Armedangels CEO Martin Höfeler, who founded the brand in 2007 with a focus on responsible and sustainable fashion, added, “Unrestricted access to information enables people worldwide to expose injustices, drive innovation, and actively shape their future. This partnership stands as a statement that transparency and education are essential in driving positive change.”
The collaboration also comes as Wikipedia prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary next year, marking a milestone as one of the most widely used sources of information on the internet. Zack McCune, director of brand at the Wikimedia Foundation, expressed the importance of the platform’s role: “We are focused on reinforcing public awareness of its vital role in society as an information resource everyone can trust.”
