Dipika Kakar’s Clothing Line DKI Faces Shutdown After Negative Feedback Over Quality and Pricing

by Demos

Television’s beloved couple, Dipika Kakkar Ibrahim and Shoaib Ibrahim, are back in the news, but this time for an unfortunate reason—the closure of Dipika’s clothing brand, Label DKI. The brand, which was launched just six months ago around late September or early October 2024, has been discontinued following mounting criticism regarding its quality, high prices, and limited variety.

Shoppers have been vocal about their dissatisfaction, with each suit from Label DKI priced between ₹2,500 and ₹3,000, a price point that many found difficult to justify. Many buyers expressed frustration over the poor fabric quality and lack of diversity in the designs.

A particularly scathing review came from a Reddit user, who lambasted the brand in a detailed post. The user criticized the collection for offering only a small selection of suits, remarking, “There are barely 10 suits on the website—does it really take a year to come up with these unoriginal and outdated designs? Despite using the word ‘elegant’ endlessly, none of the suits are even average. And the pricing? ₹3,150 for something that looks cheap and can be found for under ₹1,000 elsewhere? That’s absurd.”

The user continued, “Dipika, I understand you’re trying to earn through clothing, but do you even realize you’re overcharging for poor-quality designs? With nearly 4M followers, you have a responsibility— instead, you’re damaging the image of Indian wear. Every suit says ‘hand wash only’? Who has time for that? We’re not like you, who wear clothes once and toss them, or have a team of helpers. Honestly, you’ve lost credibility, not just as a designer, but as an influencer too. With your resources, this is the best you could do? Disappointing and shameful.”

The harsh criticism has resonated with many, as several others online voiced similar concerns about the brand’s offerings. Despite its promising start, which aimed to deliver clothing both domestically and internationally, Label DKI has faced a sharp decline in customer trust.

While there has been no official statement from Dipika or Shoaib regarding the closure, fans are deeply shocked and disappointed by the swift shutdown of the brand, which had initially garnered attention with its ambitious plans.
