Canadian twin designers Dean and Dan Caten, the duo behind the bold and provocative Italian fashion house Dsquared2, return with a fresh take for Resort 2026 — staying true to their hallmark style: rebellious, edgy, and irresistibly daring.
Their latest collection, as revealed in the accompanying lookbook, takes inspiration from the defiant spirit of youth in the ’50s and ’70s, reimagined through a unique setting — the school bathroom. “The bathroom, where free spirits sneak away to smoke cigarettes or simply have a moment of freedom and solitude, becomes a stage of countercultural community,” the designers explained. This space becomes a symbolic arena for rebellion and camaraderie among misfit students.
The collection is a stylish fusion of reinterpreted preppy staples and classic bad-boy flair. Think plush knits, breezy linen shirts, and monogrammed denim bombers juxtaposed with rugged leather jackets, worn-in denim trousers, and vintage-inspired motorcycle boots. Sleek sweat-sets give casual days a fashion-forward lift, while varsity jackets and rugby shirts solidify the narrative of the unruly, fashionable schoolboy.
Adding further cultural depth, Dsquared2 introduces two standout collaborations. The first is with the globally recognized Smiley brand, featured on a cheeky T-shirt that reads, “Smile! It confuses people.” The second collaboration highlights the sensual Polaroid imagery of photographer Tom Bianchi, whose Fire Island snapshots from the ’70s and ’80s are printed across hoodies, tees, bags, and swimwear — injecting the line with nostalgic warmth and provocative energy.
Capping off the story, the scene shifts as the “coolest teacher on campus” enters the bathroom — a nod to the brand’s enduring commitment to fine tailoring. The suave educator, dressed in Dsquared2’s refined suits, breaks up the stylish mischief, but not before joining in on a shared smoke and swapping a memory from summers past. “With a knowing wink, he sends these troublemakers back to class – but not before bumming a cigarette and sharing a summertime memory,” the designers muse.
Dsquared2’s Resort 2026 collection is a confident celebration of youthful rebellion, bold individuality, and timeless style — all delivered with the brand’s signature wink and attitude.
