Fashion is experiencing a revival of past trends, especially on TikTok. This resurgence differs from previous ones and can be challenging to navigate.
It all began with the Balenciaga Le City bag, which shifted from being a relic to a sought-after accessory for today’s youth. Next, studs made a comeback, often paired with vintage-washed jeans that seem designed for old BlackBerry phones. The trend of “slimification” in denim also emerged, highlighted by Calvin Klein’s latest Authentic Straight line, influenced by Hedi Slimane.
Soon, showing underwear bands became a substitute for wearing proper belts, and wired headphones returned as a fashion statement. The sizes of bags also shrank, mirroring stock market trends. As 2000s-era images, accompanied by music from the Cocteau Twins, reappeared on TikTok, it became clear that younger generations are growing tired of modern styles.
