Ross, 80, last attended the gala in 2003. This time, she commanded attention in a breathtaking ivory gown with an 18-foot-long hand-embroidered train, carried by five attendants. The dazzling ensemble, co-designed by her son Evan Ross and Nigerian designer Ugo Mozie of Eleven Sixteen, held a deeply personal touch—the names of her children and eight grandchildren stitched into the fabric.
