Indian E-Commerce Giants Myntra and Ajio Halt Turkish Brand Sales Amid Rising National Sentiment

In response to growing public calls for a boycott following Turkey’s overt support for Pakistan during the recent India-Pakistan military conflict, major Indian fashion retailers Myntra and Reliance-owned Ajio have ceased sales of Turkish apparel brands on their platforms.

According to reports, Myntra has suspended all Turkish brand listings, including Trendyol, a brand for which it holds exclusive marketing rights within India. Meanwhile, Ajio has also withdrawn its complete portfolio of Turkish apparel, which previously featured well-known labels such as Koton, LC Waikiki, and Mavi.

Company insiders from Myntra have reportedly stated that the brand is closely monitoring the situation and reassessing its partnerships in case tensions escalate further. At present, the availability of Turkish brands on their platform remains uncertain.

Praveen Khandelwal, National Secretary General of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), praised the move, stating, “At a time when Turkey is openly supporting Pakistan and its anti-India agenda, Indian companies taking a firm stand against its economic interests is a true reflection of patriotism and commercial prudence. AJIO and Myntra have exemplified the spirit of ‘nation first’ through this move.”

This development follows a national traders’ conference organized by CAIT, where former Union Minister and CAIT’s Strategic Advisor Smriti Irani endorsed the decision by trade leaders to cut off all commercial ties with Turkey and Azerbaijan.

“When small traders across the country are standing with the nation, giving up business interests to uphold the pride of the motherland, that sacrifice too plays a vital role in nation-building. It is our collective responsibility to do whatever we can for our soldiers and their families,” Irani stated.

Khandelwal further called on other players in the Indian ecommerce, retail, and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors to follow suit. He urged them to eliminate all products and brands originating from Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan from their supply chains in the interest of national solidarity.
