Women are increasingly stepping into roles once dominated by men across various industries—including farming. As more women take on physically demanding jobs such as construction, welding, and agriculture, the demand for functional workwear designed specifically for women has grown. However, finding durable, well-fitting workwear tailored to women’s needs remains a challenge.
In response, John Deere announced at the beginning of April a new partnership with Dovetail Workwear to create a dedicated line of work clothing made exclusively for women in agriculture.
“We’ve combined Dovetail’s expertise in workwear designed to fit women, with iconic John Deere style,” said Jessica Strait, Dovetail’s marketing operations manager, in an email. “You’ll see signature John Deere colours and iconography, but the real story is in the function.”
Strait emphasized that the new line is purpose-built for women who farm, incorporating features like reinforced knees, tool-compatible pockets, flexible fabrics, and fits that are tailored to the female form. These elements aim to provide both comfort and durability in demanding working environments.
Lauren Willis, global director for brand licensing at John Deere, noted, “Through this workwear line we hope to help women in agriculture feel great as they dress for the busy and unique lives they lead.”
John Deere is currently the only major equipment brand collaborating with Dovetail, making this a unique partnership in the workwear market. The resulting collection is designed with functionality and toughness in mind.
Strait shared that the launch includes an eight-piece capsule collection for spring 2025. Items in the collection feature a bootcut pant, overalls, a lightweight work shirt, two graphic tees, and bandanas. Each garment has been crafted to close long-standing gaps in workwear options available to women in the farming industry.
The women’s workwear line was officially released on April 2 and is available for viewing and purchase online. The Dovetail Workwear website also lists retail locations across Canada where the collection can be found.
