The Autumn 2025 edition of Paris Haute Couture Week is set to be a moment of transition for the fashion world, marked by a mix of highly anticipated debuts and poignant departures. Following a period of constant shifts among major fashion houses, the recent appointment of Jonathan Anderson at Dior suggests that the whirlwind of designer changes may finally be settling—if only slightly.
Running from July 7 to 10, this year’s couture week will feature 27 runway shows, according to the provisional calendar released by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM). The four-day event begins with Schiaparelli at 10 a.m. CEST and concludes with Swiss label Germanier’s show on the final evening.
Among the most anticipated newcomers is Glenn Martens at Maison Margiela, whose debut on July 9 aims to stay rooted in the brand’s “creative core.” Similarly, Michael Rider—formerly creative director at Polo Ralph Lauren—will unveil his first collection for Celine on July 6, stepping into the role vacated by Hedi Slimane in October 2024.
On the departure side, Balenciaga’s July 9 presentation will be Demna’s final couture collection for the house, as he prepares to pass the reins to former Valentino designer Pierpaolo Piccioli. Chanel will also see a shift, as the studio team delivers its final show before Matthieu Blazy steps in for his debut collection slated for October.
In terms of returns, designers like Iris Van Herpen, Robert Wun, and ArdAzAei are back on the official calendar, reinforcing the blend of consistency and change. Meanwhile, some notable names are taking a temporary break. Both Dior and Jean Paul Gaultier will sit this season out as they prepare for their respective new creative directors—Jonathan Anderson and Duran Lantink. Other absences include Miss Sohee, Alexis Mabille, and Valentino. Under new leadership by Alessandro Michele, Valentino has opted for a single couture show per year moving forward.
With change in the air but stability on the horizon, this season’s Haute Couture Week sets the stage for a thoughtful reimagining of high fashion’s future, offering a quiet yet significant moment of transformation within the industry.
